Your Boiler Is Making Unusual Noises

Although it is normal for your boiler to make some noise as it’s warming up, the sudden onset of noises that are out of the ordinary for your boiler is something you should get checked out. Whistling, gurgling, and banging sounds can all be indicators that you need your boiler repaired.

One of the most common types of noise that comes from a poorly performing boiler is known as “kettling,” because it sounds like a tea kettle. Kettling occurs as the result of mineral deposit buildup. This is normal for a boiler that’s been in use for many years, especially if you live in an area with hard water. However, these kettle-like sounds mean that your boiler is requiring more energy to heat your water, which not only runs up your energy bill, but also shortens the lifespan of your boiler.

Strange noises coming from your boiler can indicate different issues. If you’re not sure whether the noises coming from your boiler are a problem, give us a call and we’ll help you get it sorted out.

Your Boiler Is Leaking

A leaking boiler may not seem like a huge deal, but leaking or dripping is usually an indicator that there is something wrong with one or more of your boiler’s parts. Although leaking is fairly common for older boilers, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get it checked out. From pipe corrosion to a too-high pressure valve to an old seal, a leaking boiler can point to any number of problems.
